Contemporary Educational Technology is an international academic journal focused on the field of educational technology, which prioritizes the publication of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed paradigm research on the theory and application of educational technology and instructional design in a variety of educational Settings. Includes formal and informal educational background.

The journal not only publishes evidence-based assessment research articles and theory-based development papers, but where appropriate and possible, development papers should emphasize the links between educational technology theory and practice. In addition, each issue publishes comprehensive book reviews, interviews, reviews, and summaries of research on current issues in the field of educational technology and instructional design.
